In one half-day, you will learn about the wealth of resources and services available to you, like financial aid, advising, student clubs, campus activities, and more. Students attending the new student orientation will also have the opportunity to meet other WCC students, instructors and staff and get to know the campus before the first day of classes.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship

washington-state-opportunity-scholarship-logoAre you a student pursuing a degree in a STEM or health care field? You may be eligible for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS). This scholarship supports low- and middle-income students pursuing eligible high-demand majors in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care and encourages recipients to work in Washington state once they complete their degrees.

The application for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship will be available  Monday, January 4, 2016, and must be submitted by Monday, February 29, 2016.

Study Abroad at WCC!

Through the Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA) Whatcom Community College offers study abroad programs to many destinations around the world. WCCCSA, in cooperation with providers like the American Institute for Foreign Studies (AIFS), offers specially tailored programs for first-time international travelers. Support includes pre-program advising, a pre-departure orientation, as well as in-country support throughout the study abroad program.

Winter Quarter Tuition Deadlines

Know your tuition deadlines to avoid being dropped from your classes!

  • If you registered between December 17th and December 28th, your tuition is due 12/29.
  • If you registered between December 29th and January 3rd, your tuition is due 1/4.
  • If you register on or after January 4th your tuition is due on the day of registration!

HSF Scholarship Opportunities!


In the 2015-2016 scholarship cycle, Hispanic Scholarship Fund selected more than 4,400 Scholars funded by many different companies and organizations. The HSF application opens January 1st and allows students to apply for multiple scholarships with one application! Awards range from $500-$5,000 and may be used for the institution and major of choice. Create your MyHSF profile and get ready now, to apply for scholarships January 1st!

Eligibility for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarships:

  • Must be of Hispanic heritage
  • U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, DACA or eligible non-citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students
  • Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited 4-year university in the fall of the desired scholarship year
  • Complete FAFSA or Dream Act (if applicable)

The deadline for the HSF scholarship is March 30th 2016.

Need help writing that admissions essay? A Western admissions representative will share insights about what to include in an application essay at TWO upcoming workshops at Whatcom. Are you planning to transfer to a school other than WWU? No problem! You will still learn tips that are applicable to any 4-year school.

This event is co-sponsored by WCC’s writing center, and no reservation is required. Bring a friend and your questions about what makes a great personal statement for your transfer application.
